Opening Day
There’s a saying in the manufacturing world:
“There comes a time in every project when it’s time to shoot the engineer and go to production“
That time has come even though I’m an engineer by training.
Enjoy the new site folks.
[Update: I think the Comments issue has been fixed. Let me know if not]
If that chair could tell stories…
…and what stories it could tell!
By the colors, I’m guessing late 60’s early 70’s.
It’d look right at home with 4″ thick, tri-color, sculpted shag carpeting and few of them “big eye” pix of them skinny assed hippy chix on the wall and an 18″ gaudy ashtray on a heavy wooden coffee table littered with TV Guides and Life magazines..
Test engineering, industrial engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering all have their place. Yes, at the time it gets turned over to Operations there should be proper metrics to monitor Cost, Quality and OTD. Hopefully your manufacturing engineer can help in CQO, if you have such person. All metrics should focus on CQO. If you have an action that does not promote such, you are wasting your time. Corrective actions are opportunities to improve Operations and to update your internally documented processes. Actually having skills to do root cause analysis, Pareto analysis, etc. is very important. I have seen over my 34 years in manufacturing Operations devolve into fighting de ja vu fires and not actually implementing process improvement. A good manager will spend more than half his time on process improvement and not fighting fires. Companies that require have “expeditors” are showing that their internal processes are not working.
I shut up now.
It works.
But.
This post said there were 2 comments, but there were none showing before I wrote mine.
It works.

Maybe the comment text could be slightly smaller?
As it is, the text in the comment is the same size as the text in each comments header (ghostsniper on December 27, 2024 at 11:03 AM said:) and it looks a little confusing.
Yes. I’m pikkin’ nits. lol
And for some reason my “name” doesn’t show where it’s supposed to like it did before.
It’s getting there!
I changed Comments organizer trying to track down why comments weren’t showing. I agree – I need to tweak text settings a bit. Now that I’m replying through the site instead of as Admin, I see email address is requested. I want to get rid of that as well
Lookin better all the time!
It’s looking good.
Also read the About You segment. You sound like someone who does only what he wants to do. Makes for an interesting person.
Thanks for the “looking good”. The “About DT” section doesn’t tell much of the story but I have had an “interesting” career path. 🙂
