You are always a surprise.
Had you read the book before you met the author?

I’ll trade you for this one Theo of Golden. Makes one believe in people again.

Actually, just ordered your recommendation. Should have it in about a week.

I had read the book several years ago. It was only by chance – or maybe I was “supposed” to write this post – that I ran into him at a local diner at 7AM. And that wouldn’t have happened had I not been sitting next to his group at the counter instead of a table where I usually sit and overheard a casual comment. Sometimes I wonder …

Would take a lot for me to believe in “people” again. Persons perhaps, not people.

ok, let me rephrase…I think you’d really like the main character Theo. Smart, generous, highly traveled, considerate of others.
How I imagine you in lots of ways. Seriously.

Never been to Nevada but this is one of my all time favorite songs.

Nevada is a strange place. Most people don’t like it outside Vegas or Reno. The back country is dry and desolate; wide open empty spaces, full of the remnants of lost dreams. You love it – or hate it. Most I’ve known hate it. I feel quite comfortable there.
The tune is also one of my favorites.

Both books ordered here. Thanks Jean and DT. These moments should not be discounted.

There’s a little logging town about 350 miles from my anchor. It is in the middle of some of the best hunting and fishing (of all kinds) that my state has to offer. Very dear friends of mine eked out a bare living in this little town. I traveled there so often that I would joke that my Suburban knew the way. That if I woke up at any point on the trip, I would be able to look out the window and, within two seconds, would be able to tell the minute I would arrive at my destination. The town had one little restaurant that was only open for breakfast. It was always packed. The Gathering Place. One morning, while trading insults with the regulars, I realized that our waitress had not brought me a menu. Shortly after, my plate arrived. Three eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, toast, gravy. Coffee refill. I WAS HOME.

Those places are getting harder to find … You know you’re accepted when you can trade insults with the locals; you’re a local who just happens to be gone a lot.

Book was delivered today.
If it turns out to be a “come to jeezus” story, it might get returned.
I’ll give it a fair chance.

I told you it was a religious book. I don’t know what you call a “come to jeezus” story but this may fit. “redemption” is in the title.

I find that books like this, (just received it), have always given me, shall I say, ways, ways to improve my life. I look at them as wisdom.
