Nothing to do with today’s photo, but here is a link to an article that I think DT, as a lover of abandoned places, especially would enjoy:

Thanks for the link. My kind of places, my kind of photos, my kind of fellow wanderer … though I spend more time in Nevada than Wyoming (other than finishing my exploration of the Overland Stage route through Wyoming this summer)

Figured I should attempt a photo post, just to see how it’s working. This Barred Owl has showed up 3 days in a row, now, at our house and hangs around all day just off my back deck. It snoozes and hunts the voles and field mice running around. It doesn’t seem to hang around at night, but returns in the morning after the sun is up. It’s totally unbothered by me being outdoors with it, and I’m able to approach it quite close.

Except for the snow (right now) that could be our yard and our owl.
About 10 feet off the back deck, on the edge of the woods, is a large maple with 3 feeders and several low branches the owl likes to sit on. Lots of dead leaves with loads of voles running around under. That fat owl eats like a king. We walk around there and it couldn’t care less.

Took this from my front porch a while back. Catching some early morning rays.

Amazing. The only birds like that I see are Cormorants, drying their wings.

It seems the change to allow photos in comments is working. It’s a security risk … but then, so is most everything.
