Improvement?
There’s been a bit of trouble adding images to comments; some load with no problem, some don’t load at all. Some of it has to do with WordPress security – allowing such things can create problems. Joe let me know he was having problems embedding an image and even as Administrator, I also had trouble getting it to embed.
Say what??? I am supposed to be dictator of this universe. 🙂
(I did get it work though … finally)
Images can speak volumes so I added a few bits of code to make it easier to intentionally load images. There is a 1Mb limit on size and only JPG, GIF, WEBP, and PNG formats are allowed.
When you want to add a comment, you get a box that looks like this:

In the lower right corner is an itty-bitty icon. Clicking this allows you to add an image from a file. As long as the image fits within the parameters, it should load. I first tried it under the post “Once Was And Never Again Great Britain“. The first time didn’t work … grumble, mumble … tweaked a bit more and it seems the second time did.
Let me know if you have any problems. Just because I’ve stayed at Holiday Inn Express doesn’t make me a programmer.
If security issues come up, I’ll yank the code.

I’ve only uploaded JPG’s and it has a size limit and I don’t know what that limit is. Typically I open a graphic file (of any sort) in Thumbs+ and then resize it to about 1200 wide. I use a windows app (free) called File Converter to convert graphic files to JPG. There is a common graphic file on the web called AVIF and File Converter won’t convert it. If you type into google, convert AVIF to JPG, there is a website that will convert it instantly for free.
Test. My comments have been refused with an error message about a “Nonce is invalid”. Trying this. Doesn’t work when cookies are disabled in Safari, works when in Firefox with cookies enabled. Hmm. The list of places one can go in the Internet with cookies disabled dwindles daily. Everybody wants to track everybody.
You shouldn’t need cookies enabled here nor should your comments be refused. I’ll look into it.
Know though that cookies aren’t necessary to track you; what saves you on this site is I don’t wish to track you … but you’d be surprised at what information could be available to me – I know I was.
Hey John … from my end, you look OK. It shouldn’t matter which browser you use but I run this site from a Linux-based hosting company and a Firefox browser (though I’ve contemplated checking out Brave) – neither of which should make a difference to your end. I can look deeper but email me more details if you want; no point discussing this in Comments.
