Yep. It’s a celebration ignored by anyone that doesn’t realize the importance of participating in an event that would make any Luddite ecstatic.

I’m ok with Earth Day. We celebrate the Yule after the winter solstice, all the religions and cultures have a Yule-equivalent, when the sun observably starts coming north again and we know that we have been gifted a new year. Easter and Passover is the spring equinox celebration, July 4th is the high summer solstice, and Halloween is the fall equinox. Earth Day is for secular people.

In my younger days when I had much less responsibility and more free time, I spent every weekend out of doors in the deserts and mountains. I was in tune with the rhythms of the natural world. Yeah, it was probably started by a bunch of crypto-commies looking to heap a guilt trip on the normies and boozhwazies in order to control them, but I didn’t care. The natural world is a gift, that we gift to our children, and we ought to take care of it. And to heck with all filthy lying commie scum, one good way to get back at the Marxist scum is to take away their holiday and make it ours. It’s one of those Rules for Radicals, turn the negative against you into a positive and deny your adversaries power over you.
