What gas station????? I only see one beautiful Corvette waiting for the Tijuana kid to take a joy ride.

I’d be happy if they still pumped the gas, washed the windshield and checked the oil.

In the early days of the 1960’s I lived in Laguna Beach. I arrived in Laguna about a decade before Gerard. There is a place on the coast road (north/south) right in the middle of town where the main intersection from town meets the highway. If the road from town continued straight it would meet directly with the sands of the main beach. The light at that intersection was important to my generation. It’s an old tradition for folks from LA/Hollywood to get in their “sporty” cars and drive down to Laguna for a “Sunday Drive”.
One summer there was a guy who had that newest of new, best of the
best sports car THE Ferrari !! It was almost a given that every Sunday that guy would pull up to that stop light and the car would stall. The young men sitting there watching the traffic would wait for him to stall out so they could walk over and make comments and then try to push it fast enough to jumpstart! It was the 1960 model, but I remember it having the back window removed so that it was open to enjoy the weather. Boy did we get a kick out of the fact that that car could not stop at a light and re-start without being pushed! Here is a page to look at–enjoy:
