Does the shutdown end tonight or tomorrow?
Do the Dems maintain their “leverage” or give in before the riots start?
I’d place odds 60/40 that the shutdown ends tomorrow.
On the other hand – for many reasons – I hope they continue the shutdown at least another 2 weeks.
My gut tells me that the .gov shutdown ends no later than Sunday night, with the key day being tomorrow, Friday October 31. I say that not just because Saturday marks the start of the second month, but because the Senators will be heading home on Friday. With that in mind, whether the ATC controllers begin to slow their roll (as they did at EWR last night), especially at DCA may break the stalemate. I can’t say that I follow any of this day-to-day, but today’s ATC delays shows 90 minute departure delays out of DCA due to “other”. I think that that’s interesting and we’ll see if it happens again tomorrow.

Update: There was an unusual and small bit of Senate-Rules Shenanigans today. The Senate conducts much of it’s business, especially the administrative decisions, by “Unanimous Consent”. We-all-know-how-this-vote-will-turn-out-so-let’s-not-make-us-all-put-our-names-to-a-vote. Normally, that works. However, today there was an objection made to a request for Unanimous Consent on the question whether to adjourn for the weekend, by a Democrat from Nevada. The question was called, and it ultimately passed, but the Democrats will now be able to say that they were willing to work through weekend and that it was the R’s who walked away.

Doubt this is Trump. Schumer once again working for his best interests. “Screw the rest of you” seems to be the official Democrat position though they phrased it differently.
