Almost 80F here a few days ago. 18F currently. Wind shifted from the North and you knew cold was coming. Wind blowing like a two headed queer. Had to take my flags down. It wll be 80F again later this week. Welcome to Kansas Spring.

I want to turn the garden over one more time before I put down some seeds. Maybe take a stab at green beans again this year, if the rabbits keep off of them.

Werk taking me to PA and DC over the next two weeks. I’ve been all over CA with five trips since Christmas eve eve. Vacation time coming in April when my good wife and I head to the PI for a family wedding. Mid April we will see what the garden pops up along with various volunteers.

Here in Northen Michigan, we had another ice storm, similar to last years, and some areas a bit north and west of me saw 2 feet plus of snow. At my place there’s a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch of ice on the trees, and at least an inch of solid ice pack on the ground. Single digit temps predicted here for the next few nights, and temps are dropping already. Started the day at 28 degrees at 6 a.m., teens by after lunch. Spring is a ways away by me.

Spring? Spring is over. Here in the Phoenix area, later this week, we go straight into summer.

26 degrees here right now, 7pm.
Been snowing off n on all day, but no wind.
The past 3 days have been massive wind and intermittent rain.
Got 3 BIG trees on the ground and a 4th about 30 degrees from horizontal and hung up in another tree. This is gonna be ‘spensive.

From What Really Happened.

“This obsession with the slavery of the Antebellum South, again, it is something that happened in the past. No White person alive today in the United States of America has ever owned a slave. No Black person alive today in the United States of America has ever had to pick cotton.

But the reality is, we are all (White or Black, Brown, Red, Peach Taupe Mauve, Plaid) slaves anyway to the “Infernal” Revenue Service, to the Federal Reserve, to the IMF, to the military industrial complex, to the Medical Industrial complex. We do not have the freedom to be independent.

We are forced to buy and to use certain products, to surrender our money for things we don’t really want, and that really is an ideal definition of slavery: that your work product is taken away from you and you get nothing in return that you want.

But this obsession with the slavery of the Antebellum South is being fanned up to divide the American people against each other so that we don’t unite together against the slavery that is happening in front of us now today.

You think about that for a while.” — Michael Rivero

Welfare: Slavery without having to work for it. “I’ll have those niggers voting Democrat for 200 years“. Damn LBJ and the so-called “Civil Rights Act”. And it’s never ever enough.

There’s a less well known Richard Pryor movie – absolutely not a comedy – called “Blue Collar” about the auto industry. He stated about the auto plants: “Plant is just short for plantation“.

Happened to be filmed at the Checker (as in Checker cabs) auto plant in Kalamazoo when I was living there; knew a couple of the extras – beer bar buddies is all. Not that I kept in touch …

My very thin connection is beside the point. It’s an interesting movie; anyone who worked in the auto factories back when can probably relate to much of it.

As another aside – since thinking of “Blue Collar” reminded me. That beer bar was “The Back Door”, destroyed in the 1980 tornado that ripped through downtown. Somebody put up a Utube video!!! I spent many a wasted night in that place some years before it got blown down. Used to see Ted Nugent practice his feedback techniques there for $1 cover charge. Lots of other bands as well … Wore many a beer google in those days …

Some good news there. The demand for political scientists and survey researchers is on the decline…..
