The Boise Bicycle Project is hosting their third annual emergency bike repair clinic with Idaho Women’s Bikepacking. The event provides women and those who identify as female support and education around fixing their bike. Accepting people of all skill levels, BBP says it’s a place for people to feel safe and comfortable around a hobby they might not normally feel welcomed in.
A “safe space” for bicycles? What? Lessons on how not to interfere with motor vehicles when driving in the middle of the road?
It’s a bicycle. OK, a repair clinic is good – but why dump all the woke crap into it?
(because we’re all inclusive and safe and welcoming and all that – and we want people to know that they’re safe here)
“safe here” didn’t used to be an issue – but I certainly wouldn’t feel safe and welcome at such an event.
OK – I don’t go into Boise city much anyway (but then I don’t go into the nearby town here much either) – usually only because that’s the center for medical specialties.
Boise used to be a nice city … parking wasn’t a hassle, traffic was light enough that “jay-walking” wasn’t an issue – and didn’t deserve a ticket, one could walk around without being bothered by “support-our-issues” people, shops were nice without being pretentious, the city hall wasn’t full of rainbow flags and trimmings.
But that was then. “Then” wasn’t long ago – it happened quick.
Just to counter my own bitching, this was also a headline in local news:

“The cow fell into an irrigation box at a nearby ranch when the fire department was called. Responding crews found the cow in the irrigation box and quickly constructed a mechanical advantage system, according to EFD. The firefighters managed to extricate the cow, showing the skill and capabilities of the firefighters who responded.”

Eagle is not Boise.
The quality and content of what passes for “news reporting” today is Teh Suck.
In our neck of the woods in New England, we put up with a “No Kings” rally every Saturday at noon. A couple of weeks ago during a national event for the same, thousands showed up. One Saturday my husband and I made the mistake of driving on the street where they demonstrate. It’s a party for them. They all look cheerful and happy.

The 2022 Victim Olympics called and they’d like their participant back.
“Eagle is not Boise.”

Yet. But they’re working on it.
I’ve been watching the “evolution” locally for the past 20 years.
This county, Brown, has about 15k people and only 1 town.
They don’t call it a town, they call it a village, and that village is named Nashville. See, it so small it didn’t warrant a real name so they borrowed one.
There is a gov’t structure but I’m not much on recognizing types of such thing. There is a council or 2, or are they commissions? Oh well. And they have slowly morphed over time to now include people from big cities that have moved here.
Many of the newbies are wimminz and they are filled with feelings and they are welcoming of others. This small village has had several of the No Kings street parties and others. They are all about safe and comfortable.
For 10 years I have been telling my wife this place isn’t going to be fit for living in about 10 years.
Yep – it’s coming. We don’t have kings here locally so no need for protests … but “they” have been redistricting local precincts to allow the smaller communities less voice in upsetting the apple cart. Probably a good thing I’m not 30 years younger or I’d be in trouble. As it is, I’m in the middle – too old for what’s coming, not young enough to participate … until I’ve no choice. Diddly-damn – went through this crap 50+ years ago and didn’t care for it then.
Anyone with any sense knows that the No Kings thingi is stupid and pointless. We don’t have Kings…and never have. Whatever their disagreements with Trump may be, do not make him a King.
However, they don’t see these gatherings as pointless. They seem to have a need to periodically join together so that they can see that they’re not the only ones who feel this way. They’re stroking each other.
