A Bit Of A Hint Of Trouble
I’ve been getting a few reports of “Invalid Nonce” errors when some of you try to post comments. Anyone getting these errors and just letting them go by?
The trouble with these errors is they >might< be caused on the user end where I can’t do anything about it. On the other hand, it could be serious enough that I might need to change the underlying platform this site sits on.
I don’t see anything obvious on this end but that doesn’t mean something isn’t lurking where I don’t see it right off.
Please let me know if you get this error. It’s a potential site security problem that needs to be dealt with.
I love my job! (yes, I do)
OK. Changed some things; reset some others. Let’s see if those changes help.
Let me know if you have any issues.

My most recent comment, 12 hours ago, was unremarkable (medial term) but I’ll check back on this one and let you know if there is a prob. Happy motoring!
Am I the only one who is glad that I don’t know what a “Nonce” is? Also, I am glad that there are others who do.
OT: Ghost, I promised you an update on the Phoenix weather. Today was the earliest date for us to exceed 100°. 102° at the moment and they’re forecasting 104° on Friday.
Learning never stops: nonce: “number used once” – a security token.
“a nonce is generated for a given user in a given context so that it’s unique to not only the WordPress install and user, but to the action, the object of the action, and the time of the action.”
You’ll be able to sleep better tonight now.
We were at 80 today in SW Idaho. The ski resorts are closing this week when normally they try to stay open until Memorial Day. We didn’t have winter – 3 days with snow and none of it lasted as long as 12 hours. The daffodils are almost done.
I couldn’t deal with that. The heat was part of the reason for us moving from FL 20 years ago this month. My job and my attitude means I must spend a fair amount of time outdoors and when that place becomes miserable it also becomes intolerable. The only choice was to stay inside and soak up $300/month air conditioning.
At least weekly I’d have to take a boat to an island for the various projects I was working on and I’m not aware of any reasonably priced boats that have AC. Just 45 mins mowing the yard was miserable. Don’t know if it’s my individual chemistry or what but after 40 years in that stuff enough was enough.
Don’t particularly like extreme cold neither and we get a fair amount of that, and I due suffer cabin fever. So, I’m still searching for the perfect average yearly temperature but my search is mostly in vain.
106 degrees seems like it could suffice for a slow cooker. Dump the meat, vegs, herbs and spices and water in a lidded pot and sit it out on the driveway at 8am. At 6pm supper is served!

Leaving politics aside – impossible to do however – you’d want to be in some places in California. The pros are extremely over-whelmed by the cons however (in many meanings of the phrase).
I have had a couple of problems. I learned a long time ago that nothing is perfect. Appreciate your work and the beautiful pictures with down to earth narratives.
Thank you … my goal is to keep you from having NAD problems.
People keep telling me nothing is perfect so why waste your time trying to be perfect. Irritated me at work. “Good enough is good enough” was a common mantra (accountants again).
I figure if I strive for perfection, I might achieve excellence. If I only strive for excellence, I might achieve good. If I strive for “good enough is good enough”, I’ll likely achieve mediocrity – at best.
DT, I received a nonce error message the other day when attempting to comment on the “Spring Roundup” post. When I stopped by again later at the same post, I was able to post my comment without error. Don’t know if that info helps, but thought I should let you know.
The nonces are time-sensitive. It’s one reason a cause is difficult to locate. Yes, knowing this helps. Thanks. [update: I’m getting the same error now. I have to reply as Administrator. Time to get under the hood with my imperial wrenches – and hope the problem isn’t metric]
My 2 instances were in replying to a comment but never as a comment to the main board (if that makes sense).
I’ll see what happens now as you are
in a commenting position.
