Nope. I’m one of the only movers of the family. Only one grand-uncle on either side of the family moved around much – he ended up in Bisbee during the mining days … and as far as I can tell, I’m the only one that moved around as much. Most on either side stayed where they were unless forced going back to 1800 and before. There’s still >something< on the other side of the horizon.

Not too long ago I had a business trip in that area. Flew into Ricnmond, met my colleagues at the airport. Drove down the Peninsula towards the Coast. After our business was done, one of the guys who had his own car went off to explore the Great Dismal Swamp. Now that’s what I always tried to do, to be that guy: the moment work was over, hustle over the local natural scenic area and walk and run and hike till dark. Unfortunately I was stuck in a car with some old farts, and all they wanted to do was go back to the hotel, then go drinking and get some dinner. I’ll probably never be in that part of country again.

Nobody can do it all. It’s just that some misses sting more than others.
