I just posted my last goodbye at Gerard’s blog so thought I’d come over here and say hello. Just around my house (Phoenix metro area), the Cape Honeysuckle and Brittlebush have been blooming for weeks but then we’ve been flirting with temps in the 80’s and will be solidly in the 90’s next week. Thanks DT for creating this space. -Karen-
Welcome. Jump on in with whatever may strike your fancy. I’m up in the hills of SW Idaho so it’s a week or two early for spring. But it’s here and I’m enjoying it. Until I have to start mowing the lawn … 🙂
I’m in parts north of Meridian. Often go to breakfast at a place in Payette; one of those “locals” places that let you sit around and drink free refills of coffee – called Erika’s Kitchen.

We’ve got tons of orange trees in our area, and they’re beginning to bloom. At the beginning of their bloom it is a lovely scent, which I wish I could share here. But for me, later on it becomes overpowering….sorta like dunking your head in a bucket of perfume. My eyes will water and my nose will run until the blooms drop and the fruit sets.
We’ve done a pretty good job this year of getting ahead of our spring-time trimming and preps for the summer (although if I’m not careful, it’ll be pretty hot before I get a chance to wash the windows). A couple of weeks ago, right before the rains, we got our pre-emergent weed treatment down and hopefully that’ll keep the little weeds from popping up in the gravel.
Crocus
We have them all over the place.
My wife plants more every year.

Karen,
Stop by often, if you will. Good folks here.
Thank you all for the warm welcome. I’ll be around.
