As The Sun Goes Down …
… on this April 9, 2025, let’s recall the happenings of 160 years ago.

Men who saw night coming down about them
could somehow act as if they stood at the edge of dawn.

It wasn’t about slavery, it was a provoked war disemboweling the 10th Amendment.
Was escorted through the ruins of Mississippi by a very knowledgeable and well educated couple. Once you get down there and drive that area you can see clearly the Civil war was about New York taking over the economies of the south. Most importantly was cotton, but there were many other products being produced and imported. We seldom think of the south as having important ports, but it did and those ports enabled the people of the south to do business with the world without going through the brokers of New York.
Let it go. War is the continuation of politics by other means, when just politics fail. The fractures were in the Constitution from the beginning. How to deal with the biggest fractures was decided in 1861-65.
Don’t cry over one Amendment. Since 1865 the entire Constitution has been gutted. We are late stage empire, the malefactors we elected are looting the Treasury before it all goes bust.
Since they no longer have faith in the Almighty, and they no longer have allegiance to the Constitution, to what do they adhere? Raw unchecked power and unearned wealth, I think. These are the enemies in front of all who would live in peace and liberty.
That’s because there is no “Failure to Perform” clause in that social contract.
Oh wait, I never signed that contract in the first place (nor did anyone else alive today), so it is automatically null and void.
Wait again, if a contract is not signed by all persons named in said contract then the contract itself is self voided.
So it is all an illusion – just more lies.
There is no 1st amendment, 2nd amendment, none of it exists. It failed on the table in the city of brotherly love way back when.
Yeah, that “parchment under glass” is as real as the federal reserve notes in your pocket. When everyone, or a majority of everyone, stops make believing, it will all vanish in the wind.
Do you believe?
I’m reminded of the old
dollsfigurines sold during the centennial (that was just a few years ago, right???): The blue one said “Forget it”; the gray one said “Forget, hell!”.I’m not a southerner and I was raised “Yankee”; g’grand-daddy was technically a Union soldier (long story but he was State, not Union … same thing in official records).
I only recall it as a reminder the situation we find ourselves in started long before Trump or Biden or Nixon or Wilson … or even Lincoln, although Lincoln formalized it. In many ways, I look upon the Confederates as Constitutionalists – MAGAs of the day … who lost; along with the last remnants of the Republic (let’s not carry the analogy too far though).
As I read history, things started going downhill with the first Congress and the 2nd President – one of the holy “Founding Fathers” himself – found that Constitution thingy got in the way of what he wanted to do – one of which was shutting down those who disagreed with him.
But I still list Lincoln as one of the worst Presidents.
Whiskey Rebellion, Louisiana Purchase, etc., the lying, conniving and stealing has been going on from the beginning….with no repercussions.
