Note To Ghostsniper
(and anyone else who backed up American Digest)
I was looking for an essay and discovered that the backup essays – other than the post title and comments – linked back to the original site. That’s why everything looked OK when I checked the backup … and why nothing is there now.
Oh – fiddlesticks !!!
I can send it to you on a USB drive, 5.04gb, or upload it to wherever you want it.
Have you checked to make sure the essays are actually there? I have unformatted comments and de-linked photos but the essays and html formatting files all want to link back through the old site.
Seems the download program needed to go deeper – although I thought it was set to “all”.
Oops. Wish I had realized this a week ago 🙁
We should take this off-line.
Just checked a couple of them and they are all different now, incomplete. Plus, it takes a awhile for them to load – like they’re looking for a server or something. The text is there, for the most part, but pix and such are gone. The website header pic is gone too.
So what the hell did I download for 36 hours?
Did you download the whole site like I did? If so, you see what I see. Disappointing.
Dust in the wind. Perhaps Gerard didn’t want his work to live on.
I have disconnected pics and comments; can’t find any essay text.
Yep. If yours is like mine, it’s looking for <americandigest.org>
Aside from losing Gerard’s work; that program proved to be worse than useless. As I’ve said before and will say over and over again, I don’t trust anything that depends on software.
From over at David Coverdales place.
Yeah, that dood.

Has anyone tried the way back machine? I do not understand how it works but I just put in American Digest and came up with a bunch of stuff one of them the last page of AD. AND I just clicked on “older posts” and it took me back to January 31. I have not gone further. I have no idea what to do. But one of you guys who understand all this maybe should check it out.
DT, Ghost?????
About Fiddlesticks:
. . .
Anyway, thanks for the morning chuckle.
Fiddlesticks is a gated community in Fort Myers, FL that was started in the 80’s and I designed quite a few homes in there. Yeah, it had a heavy scottish theme through out. The golf clubs were considered fiddlesticks.
Here’s an example:

Looks beautiful there and that is quite a house.
I could have the neighbors in and still not have to see them.
