Time For Another “Summer Of Love”?
Judging from what I hear about the goings-on in LA and NYC … plus DC and Portland … and perhaps other places not worthy of news reporting Minneapolis? Seattle?, I wonder if the time is coming for at least another time of Peaceful Protesting by the left.
More expansive this time, more dedication to the cause … more bullets flying.
I’m not convinced I like either side, but I am not fond of the left (“not fond” – one way to put it) and I don’t trust the right … but if forced, I have to stick with the right … and keep an eye on my 6.
Anyone else smell at least limited martial law?
Just keep in mind: the alternative was Harris.
UPDATE: Yep – there it is …
“Sen. Cory Booker calls LA riots ‘peaceful’ as rioters torch cars and attack federal agents“
535 wringed necks would be a good place to start.
Then 50 top state level necks.
The rest will flee for their lives, if they’re smart.
Then the next day we deal with the media….
Can you tell me how?
=================
On a news site about the LA riots I read this:
“These workers pay taxes and have social security contributions deducted, although they will never be eligible to receive benefits.”
This person is speaking about the illegal aliens. I’m sure you’ve seen similar.
If the illegal aliens are paying (payroll?) taxes and social security, how are they doing so with NO social security number?
There are tax forms the employer or accountant must fill out and no money can change hands between the employer and the IRS unless the social security numbers are included. This is for employees and subcontractors (Form 1099).
Having never been involved with illegal aliens in any capacity, I suspect the above quoted sentence is a bald face lie – no matter how many times it is said. The paperwork doesn’t work. Period.
While I don’t know it as a fact, I have heard for decades about businesses hiring illegal aliens to work for them but I have never heard an explanation of how they are actually paid. Is it a trust based system wrought with disappointment? Or what?
On “Another Summer of Love”….
Like each of us, I’m just an armchair observer, but this time, I don’t think that it will turn out that way.
Firstly, we’ve done this before. The R’s didn’t like it in 2020, but felt that an aggressive response wasn’t in their interests. Of course, 2020 was an election year and anything that Trump did would affect his re-election prospects. By 2020, Trump had to know that his government was filled top-to-bottom with Deep State actors who would thwart (Sztrok, et. al) or slow-roll (Milley) anything that he might attempt. The D’s were all in on the “Peaceful Protest” fiction, which they used as a cudgel against the Orange Man Bad. The Peaceful Protests were just one part of the multi-pronged effort to keep Trump from being re-elected….the others being Russia, Russia, Russia, sham investigations leading to sham impeachments, Covid restrictions, and re-jiggering election processes.
Today, little of that exists to the degree that it did 5 years ago. The Executive Branch still has their Deep State actors but I think that the smart ones will have their heads down. The top levels of Trump’s Cabinet are largely with him and will brook no dissent in their subordinates. The Courts are a problem, but their best efforts only delay Trump’s agenda. Curtailing illegal immigration is like an 80% issue, even among the Hispanic community, and those taking to the streets over deportations are offering their support to illegal immigrants who are also criminals. Politically, what are the D’s going to do? Impeach Trump a third time (assuming that they regain the House in ’26)? If they impeach Trump again, they get a President JD Vance (who would then run as an incumbent in ’28 and 32[?]).
No, we’re going to have the Antifa hooligans running around for a while this summer, but the difference this time is that the fed.gov will throw the book at them and then attempt to bury them under the jail. There’ll be no slaps on the wrist, and a sentence of probation and “Community Service”.
For the time being, I’m staying away from downtowns, but I do that anyway. This’ll blow over.
As always, I could be entirely wrong and YMMV.
