According to my wife, who keeps track of such things around here, today, 15 Sep, is the day of the last sighting of the Hummers. Seems most of them have “flown the coop” as all day yesterday I never seen more than 2 at a time, 1 female and 1 male.

We’ll leave the feeders on the shepherds hook for the rest of the week just in case, and the bees and Downy Woodpeckers can take their fill. Then they will be cleaned up and put in a cabinet in the laundry room.

We had an estimated 18 of them swarming at one time and it’s something else to sit on the porch and watch them interact amongst each other. In the beginning of the season there was about maybe 6-10 of them, then midseason the 6-10 babies leave the nests and things become rather active.

Sure am gonna miss them.
