Gee – I Wonder
“Numerous defense officials — who watched senior brass scramble to Washington and then sit through a partisan speech from President Donald Trump and a return to old-school military standards by Hegseth — were left wondering why the event had occurred at all.“
I would suggest it was nothing more than a demonstration sufficient to drive the point home to all those high-ranking officers that they are not the top of the pyramid.

Whatever it takes to exorcize the spectre of Mark Milley. Whatever. It. Takes.
Exactly. Milley, et. al, needed the reminder that they work for the guy who was elected by the American people. Many of them had forgotten that.
While I listened to Hegseth’s entire speech (which I thought was impressively delivered and not at all partisan), I didn’t listen to Trump’s speech. Regardless, it is completely appropriate for the President….a partisan….to deliver a partisan speech. The military especially, but the civilian part of the .gov too, need to hear what the President says, salute smartly, and go forward with his agenda.
