Headline: “‘No Kings’ Color-Revolution Turns Into White Liberal Boomer Parade“
Now I’m a member of that most dreaded group, white boomer conservatives – yet the news is making it seem that all us boomer types are ex-hippies. (Actually, “ex”-hippies are OK but too many of them never left that playground)
I don’t know that I’ve encountered such a group of people – liberal ex-hippies and wanna-bes – so willing to be so ignorant, so unwilling to look at details, so unwilling to think maybe they should change at least some of their beliefs – yet know so much better than anyone else about just about any topic that comes to their minds.
Way back when in the 80s, I lived in Santa Cruz where I first seriously ran into what I call “hippies with money”.
They struck me as mean-tempered, holier-than-thou hypocrites even then.
All those glorious ideas when they were poor about the “proper” society went out the window when they got money and it became “their” money, not “the man’s” money – or even “our” money.
Now they’ve organized.
I liked living in Santa Cruz – I like the regions within the Santa Cruz mountains – but SC was more quirky than insane then, before the earthquake. No way would I live there now.

I’m going to both disagree and agree with you here.
I disagree that this is…
…and I agree that….
Keeping an eye on the political Left is important (no less than keeping an eye on the political Right).
The Left has been engaged in this sort of guerilla warfare for the hearts and minds of the American public for some time now. “Occupy Wall Street”…that 2011 effort after the 2008 GFC against having Wall Street bailed out at the expense of Joe Sixpack…was not an organic thing. People organized those protests. They paid for them. Yes–people were (and remain) pissed off about how the GFC was handled. But they were managed into that reaction.
Roll the clock forward to 2020 and the “Summer of Love” (sic). Nothing about that was organic. BLM and Antifa had their organizations out stoking the emotions to bring people into the streets. Both organizations had their hit-goons out–they being the ones willing to smash windows to allow the rioters to loot, and to set fires once the looting had been done. Pallets of bricks showed up on select street corners….street corners which would later in the day become places where the riots would run through. None of this was accidental.
And today, we’re seeing the Left trot out their “No Kings” tropes. It too is organized. Didja notice all the Mexican flags and keffiyah’s at the No Kings protests back in June? Well, they learned that these weren’t playing well with the normies and so they’ve largely dropped them (exception being the LA area and the Southwest for the Mexican flags, and maybe the Pali-schwag for NYC).
Nate Friedman has a number of videos up showing us just who these paid protest organizers are behind the current “No Kings” protests.
The political Left….from as far back as Obama (maybe earlier)….has learned to craft their actions to influence people, while at the same time to be deniable. The Obama years had lefties burrowing their way into .gov employment with the mission to outright deny successes to politically Right, and if that weren’t possible, to slow-walk anything that might come across their desks. Malicioius compliance. We’re supposed to believe that these are fair-minded civil servants–everyone from Lois Lerner to the guy checking signatures on mail-in ballots to Anthony Fauci–but if you look carefully, you see that the ratchet always works towards the Left and not-so-much to the Right.
Santa Cruz was nice back at my last memory of the place. I remember as a kid/teenager going to some amusement park there (a place which prolly doesn’t exist any longer).
from the beginning–1964 they have been bullies! They silenced my generation. I remember in 1970 standing there at one of their little markets and looking at their sand candles–asking myself the question: “who are these people” “how come they are free to do all this” meaning of course being dressed half naked at the market, not wearing any bras, not combing their hair. Most of all their contempt for me and mine–we were only about four years younger, but they were a world apart from us–their contempt for us was palatable! Just like today–only today they have their younger followers coming up behind them with less education, so they do not know what they do.
We lived in the Santa Cruz mountains in 1966-67. We were not hippies, just a young couple with a baby and a big dog!. We wanted to be in a more rural area than Sunnyvale or San Jose. DH worked for the phone company and I worked at the bowling alley bar from 5-10pm. Our daughter was two years old. I made more money in one night at that bar than I have ever made! The commute got to be too hard for us. That was right after we left Laguna Beach, which is where Gerard moved to twenty years later!
There is a nude beach just north of Santa Cruz. Bunch of old folks with leathery skin and nothing you really want to see. At least that was my perspective from ~20 years ago.
