Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man,
play a song for me
I'm not sleepy
and there ain't no place I'm goin' to
Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man,
play a song for me
In the jingle jangle morning,
I'll come followin' you
Take me for a trip upon
your magic swirling ship
All my senses have been stripped
And my hands can't feel to grip
And my toes too numb to step
Wait only for my boot heels to be wanderin'
I'm ready to go anywhere,
I'm ready for to fade
Unto my own parade
Cast your dancing spell my way
I promise to go under it
One of my favorites. Love the haunting “coo”.
I seen this somewhere and thought it was clever:
Nuttin’yahoo
Cold wind bites the skin no escape
Shadows creeping whisper my name
Chains of despair drag me deep
Underneath where no light can creep
Rusted walls closing in too tight
Echoes scream in the dead of night
Cursed by the weight of what I’ve done
Falling deeper nowhere to run
and you say you’re not a fan of poetry ? ..humph.
It’s a song I wrote recently. It starts with the acoustic guitar (usually) then goes in various directions. Once I have the chord progression established I start on the lyrics. I’ve written hundreds and always have at least half a dozen in the pipeline.
Songs are poems, gs.
[Chorus]
Tear it open let it bleed
Scream the truth I can’t concede
Burn the lies consume the ash
Rise again from the devil’s wrath
Bloodshot eyes staring at the void
Faith destroyed anger deployed
Cracked mirrors show a shattered soul
Hollow heart devoured whole
[Bridge]
Fingers clawing at a broken door
Can’t go back to what was before
Spirits wail in a fiery tide
Drag me down no place to hide
[Chorus]
Tear it open let it bleed
Scream the truth I can’t concede
Burn the lies consume the ash
Rise again from the devil’s wrath
Thanks for the photo DT. Reminds me of one of the Haikus I wrote when I was bedridden with Lyme Disease a few years ago:
Dawn. Mourning doves coo.
Soft lamentation chorus
Calls me from my dream.
A poem would come to mind when I woke up each morning. That went on almost every day for months. Nothing like that had ever happened to me before…nor has it since.
There’s power in your verse Ghost.
“..humpf” indeed Jean!
Beautiful haiku, Walt. Bet there are more waiting for you to find them.
Thanks Jean!
Beautiful photo, DT. Nothing like birds to highlight God’s creations. We live near a boat-launch and walk there most days. Last year there were 2 families of geese, one with 10 goslings and the second with 6. This year they’ve outdone themselves, too many to count.
