Need more commenters.
Kinda boring around here when I’m the only one doing the yappin’.

More yappers = broader variety, wider scope, more interest.

You know you want one.

That looks perfect for home defense.

It isn’t a Sig 320, so it’s got that going for it, which is nice.

When you think of the largest police force in the world do you envision this person as being in charge?

This country is so effed up.

When I saw Silent Hill, I thought this was what the discussion would be about. Full hour of this. Sometimes I listen to this in my headphones at work to drown out the insipid chatter of those with not enough to do.

I don’t have a lot to say, but I’ll try to do better. Here in western Oregon we’re having the driest spring and summer since 1956. Grass seed yields are down. First time I remember that we were done with grass seed harvest by mid July. Had to replace one bearing on my 48 year old combine. Mowed third cutting alfalfa yesterday. There wouldn’t be much there, but we can irrigate out of the river.

See? Everybody has sumfink. Anywhere near Medford? I have an old friend there that I haven’t seen in a long time. Says he has 3 big, bushy “plants” he wants me to come by and examine. I needs me a west coast roadtrip….

Medford is 250 miles south. I’m 25 miles west of I5 so if you pass by stop and visit.

Sounds like Grand Ronde. I’m about 350 miles east of you.

Love the music selection today.
Would be great for a good western movie. In an effort to be chattier, I’ve got some music to offer up today too.

Talented young kids playing Crazy Train on xylophones and a red headed girl named Ally the Piper playing famous guitar solos on the bagpipes. Hope you enjoy them.

First one was wonderful; gave me goose bumps. All that Joy and talent. Sounded awfully good and not at all awkward for so many young players. Thank you SK.
Ally seems very talented but the bagpipes are an acquired taste, I think. Good for her though!

What’s wrong with bagpipes?
Gives me an idea for a Tuesday Tunes post 🙂

So I’ll challenge you DT.
Try listening to Scotland the Brave on bagpipes and drums without feeling moved by the ancient sound. Scots or not 🙂

Also the lyrics (I’ve included just a few of the verses below) can bring a grown man to tears.

Hark when the night is falling
Hear! hear the pipes are calling,
Loudly and proudly calling,
Down thro’ the glen.
There where the hills are sleeping,
Now feel the blood a-leaping,
High as the spirits
of the old Highland men.

Far off in sunlit places,
Sad are the Scottish faces,
Yearning to feel the Kiss
Of sweet Scottish rain.
Where tropic skies are beaming,
Love sets the heart a-dreaming,
Longing and dreaming
for the homeland again

Excuse me I meant to say: “I’ll challenge you JD”.

Tried to edit the mistake but didn’t manage.

I’ve traced my family back to the 1700s (and in one branch, 1600s), The part of my family that isn’t lowlanders is highlanders. The groups that came over together pretty much inter-married until both my parent’s generation. One Irish slipped in along about the mid 1800s. I have suspicions a Sassenach slipped in about the time of the American Revolution. Couple hundred years since Scotland but a few remnants of the culture got passed down, appreciation for bagpipes among them.

Sounds very similar to my own family.
Hope we can convince JD of the beauty of bagpipes 😉

DT… Completely unrelated to the thread…

I was just on neo neo con site and that poor lady, who is dear to everyone here for all she did for Gérard and all she meant to him, is having a hard time and needs our prayers.
