It appears ZeroHedge picked up this story. “DataCenter” means just that: the facilities plus support staff and families along with merchants implies these will be the significant population centers:

Injury
=====
We’ve been dealing with a sick gurl since Fri.
My Shannon.
She was 11 last Apr and next week it will have been 11 years that she has been “My Shannon”.
She flies around here like she’s still 3 years old but she’s not, and she got reminded of that last week. While going 100 mph and ascending the deck stairs 4 or more at a time she lost it and crashed, hitting her belly hard on the steps. She immediately got back up and continued on. I chastised her and moved on.
A little later she was licking her lower belly profusely and I went over there and she growled at me. Whoa. So I sat down and waited. After a while she stopped licking and I saw a bold, reddish lump on her lower belly, abdomen area. I leashed her up and took her out in the yard where the grass inspires to go, what I call, HAWG WOW! (hog wild). She gets on her back, legs in the airs, and writhes about furiously. I guess she’s scratching her back. It was then that I could clearly see a large hematoma on the left side of her abdomen. Oh dear.
We took her to the local vet and a few hundred dollars later they confirmed our suspicion and referred us to another vet in Martinsville that can do the required surgery. Surgery???? Jayziss. They gave us some pain pills for her and we left, waiting for 8:15am mon for her surgery.
All weekend long Shannon would eat very little and that was with great encouragement on my part. Most of the time she just licked her wound which was rubbed raw and oozing. What a mess. Poor gurl. But she seemed in good spirits otherwise.
Wouldn’t you know it? Been dry as a bone around here for months and the one time we NEED to go somewhere it rains like hell. So we dropped My Shannon at 8:15 this morning and we’ve accomplished little else as we wait for the vet to call to come pick her up. They said she’ll have to wear a cone for 2 weeks. She is NOT going to like that at all. I hope this all turns out alright. So we continue to watch the clock.
Shannon on the floor at the vets office last Fri,
Best of luck with your Shannon. About 3 weeks ago, we received the news that the Lovely Mrs. azlib’s lapdog, Nina, a Chihuahua, has maybe months to a year left. Congestive heart failure. The Lovely Mrs. is heartbroken, as I am sure that you are too. We’ve been dog people forever, but are nearing the age where getting another dog might not be the smartest idea either for the dog or for ourselves.
“…has maybe 6 months to a year left….”
Well, if there’s anything good to say in all that AZ, you sort of have a heads up on the near future. You can make the rest of Nina’s time here the best you can for all.
My wife and I are 70 so Shannon will be the last dog we have. The next one would likely outlive me so I won’t burden my wife or others with the responsibility after I’m gone, nor do I want to “abandon” the dog.
This recent surgery has caused me to reflect and I am going to renew myself in my interactions with Shannon. She’s 11 and we might have 4-5 more years with her. Not that any of our previous dogs were bad or anything, but Shannon has been the best. In a way she understands me, knows my routines, and we have our own custom lingo. I mean, I have created a vocabulary just for her, that I use, and she understands it. She truly is like an old shoe and fits me perfectly. At times I take that for granted but I’m going to try to not do that and appreciate every day with her.
Sending good vibes your way, Ghost. A home without its dog is a huge empty house. It is amazing how a dog’s spirit fills in all the empty spaces in one’s life. Be well soon, Shannon.
Thank GD.
We brought her home this afternoon.
I had to buy a body suit to prevent her back feets from ripping the incision. And she has to wear a cone to keep from chewing the incision. She’s not liking any of this, nor am I.
Currently she is banned to my office where I can keep a constant eye on her and we don’t want her incision to “leak” in the house. So I’ll spend the night out here with her tonight, trying to sleep in my office chair. She wimpers off and on and I wish I could snap my fingers and make the next few days go by just like that. <snap>
It isn’t just the energy needs of these data centers. In Arizona, there are also questions about their water consumption.

Well Kansas looks screwed. Nother year and three months and I should be done with the corporate world. Countless house projects to complete. Otherwise you will find me at the gun range drinking coffee.
I hate it when pets die.
