Braggin’ On My Kid Brother

I had something else lined up for today but it’ll keep.
I just received this photo of some finish work my brother did recently. I don’t know the proper name for his specialty but “finish carpenter” is what I use.
His work in this photo is the entry way and ceiling trim. Probably other detail trim work as well.
Other than his mother’s house, I don’t think he’s worked on any home under $10M for a long time; some in the $100+M range.
I can’t afford him.
so I have to use family “secrets” to blackmail him 🙂

Wow, beautiful! I have a carpenter son but not a finish one. His specialty is giving 100+ percent at every job he has had despite not being happy with his employers. Good reason to be on one’s own.
Exquisite work!
Incredible. My claim to finish carpentry fame was to put in crown molding on a vaulted ceiling at our former home. The three-dimensional trigonometry for those corner angles still makes my head hurt. And, wow, was I ever bad at it. If you think that you’re overpaying for a tradesman and that you can do this yourself, you’re likely fooling yourself. Your brother has my respect.
He has mine as well … but I’m the older brother and don’t let him know very often. It’s in the “Older Brother Handbook”.
Wow! Incredible work. What a joy to be able to create something so beautiful.
