Halloweenie story
submitted by Wild, wild west
A short story, very short, that I conceived and wrote after receiving a challenge last week.
“The Other”
That sounds like a good name for a horror flick, yes? I banged this out in about 5 minutes after receiving a challenge from a buddy who has actually published some things, and got paid for them.
Chapter One: The Return
Roberta felt the presence behind her and turned quickly, knife ready to slash as her torch searched wildly, but there was no one there. Then a hand from behind closed over her mouth and nostrils while another deftly took the knife.
Roberta tried to scream, but could not. She heard The Other whisper, “My lovely one, how you must have missed me” as the knife slid across her stomach. Her entrails spilled out and down across her bare legs as the blood, oh, so very much blood, gushed forth. Then she was gone.
“Adieu, my love,” whispered The Other. Then he gently laid her upon the divan, faded into the shadows and was gone.
Chapter Two: Requiem for a Stripper
The muse deserted me at that point; I was out of soap.

That’ll teach her to go traipsing around in the neighbors crib at midnight on Halloween when she thought they were away on vacay.
They cleverly activated their AI driven surveillance and assault ghostly apparition on duty before they left.
Why did he kill her?
