Tunesday – Hevia “Busindre Reel”
A sample of some obscure – and some maybe not obscure – tunes from my strange and off-the-wall collection.
Today’s selection: Hevia “Busindre Reel” 1998
Crank this one up. Yee-haw! Bagpipes in a Celtic reel. Starts slow.
José Ángel Hevia Velasco – professionally Hevia – was born in 1967 in Asturias, an autonomous region on Spain’s northern coast. The Busindre Reel is probably his best-known composition.

Well that was different, not unpleasant.
Picked up a little at the halfway mark.
Sitting here at my desk, I closed my eyes, and found myself 17 years old again, sitting cross legged on the floor, bobbing and leaning, back n forth, to and fro.
This could be a soundtrack for a film.
I’m going to look him (them?) up.
I have an affection for the “Irish” tradition–and, also for that of Flamingo guitar, etc. This reminded me that there is a strong Spanish genetic influence in Ireland because when the Spanish crashed the “Armada” in 1533 they were trying to escape from England ditched off the coast of Ireland. Several of those fellows made it to shore and voila !
P.S. My AI is giving me conflicting information. It has always been my
understanding that they crashed on the southern tip of Ireland. What information do you have?
Thumbs up for this one.
