Jenny Jenny, you’re the girl for me.
(eight six seven five three oh ny-ee-yine)
Frirst built in 1915, two years after this power took over America. “For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence–on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations.
“Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed. It conducts the Cold War, in short, with a war-time discipline no democracy would ever hope or wish to match.” — John F. Kennedy
December 23, 1913, a day that will last in infamy.
The doings of the 1912 election make for interesting contemplation.
It’s been going on for quite some time now.
I’ve spent quite a bit of time in Denver International. Many flight out of Wichita hub in Denver, Dallas or Chicago. Last count for me I’ve made 24 flights into Denver, 29 into Chicago and 38 into Dallas.
28 times I stepped out of perfectly good airplanes and helicopters into mid air.
It’s been said very high bouts of adrenalin look identical to insanity.
For those here unaware, Ghost was a paratrooper in his younger days. Thank you for your service sir!
There’s an interesting book “By The Seat of My Pants” by Dean C. Smith about flying Jennys and the beginning of air mail service.
Speaking of mail service, I was once mildly interested in stamps so I am aware of this thing:
The Inverted Jenny (also known as an Upside Down Jenny, Jenny Invert) is a 24 cent United States postage stamp first issued on May 10, 1918, in which the image of the Curtiss JN-4 airplane in the center of the design is printed upside-down; it is one of the most famous errors in American philately. Only one pane of 100 of the invert stamps was ever found, making this error one of the most prized in philately.
Estimated valueUS $1,593,000
