The web is conscienceless and is neither good nor bad. Or, said another way, it cannot be held accountable to all the things it is capable of exposing anyone to. It is simply a messenger and each person gets to decide what that message will be.

We can’t help but be curious of things in this world especially things that might harm us. So we “check in”, and when we do, the things we check in on are usually depressing. Our online depression is completely controllable if we are able to control ourselves.

As the not so long departed, but much missed, John Prine sang:

“Blow up your TV, throw away your paper
Go to the country, build you a home
Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches
Try and find Jesus on your own”
