Here’s my first saved turtle of the new year. A lttle gurl about 4-5 years old and a she’s a fiesty little scudder.
Coming back from the antique tractor show and I was on Helmsburg Road with about 4 vehicles behind me when I spotted her in the middle of my lane. I was horrified about the 4 vehicles behind me, just knowing one of them would flatten her before I could circle back.
I turned in the first driveway on the left, and wouldn’t you know it? I was in the driveway of the very next vehicle behind me, who then turned in. He went around and waved.
I got back on the road and layed rubber for my turtle and there she was, bigger’n Stuttgart with her head up high in the air. No one had run over her! YAY!
I stopped next to her, got out and snatched her up and got back in my Blazer. I scoped the road both ways and nobody was coming, so I looked her over real quick to make she wasn’t bleeding or have any gruel on her, then I set her on the passenger seat and hauled ass for the crib.
Got back here and took a couple pix of her then set her down by my wife’s fish pond.
Now I’m primed to find another one….as the past 2 years have been dry, no turtles. I’m always on the look out for em. In the 19 years we’ve lived here I’ve brought hundreds back and turn em loose behind our house at the stream.

That’s so nice, Ghost. Lovely markings on its back. My old neighborhood had a pond at the end of it and an ancient one as big as a truck tire ventured out every once in a while.
Probably mentioned it some time back on AD, but I found a box turtle marching through my yard one time and I approached him. He went to defense mode into his shell. I went in the house and peeled an orange then put a few slices in front of him, then stepped back. Eventually he came out and he saw those orange slices. Manna from Heaven! He slaughtered that fruit like Doberman on a t-bone. Made me giggle. God’s little creatures that give us joy.
Liberals want the illegals here. They need a future large dependent voting sector to turn and keep everything Democrat. Socialism. They fail to realize it will lead to the downfall of our great nation.
I don’t think they fail to realize, I think it’s their fondest dream.
Always remember 2 things about leftists.
They are children, no matter their age, and their intelligence levels reflect that of children.
Children rarely consider consequences and don’t care about whom they bother. In their world, everything is about them.
Trump, or anyone behaving like him, represents a “daddy figure”, a person of authority, a rule maker, the deliverer of penalties.
When democrats hold the highest positions of power it’s pretty much like Dad has taken a vacation and the children will wrought mayhem in all things. Then, when Dad comes back from vacation and puts his republican hat on the children revolt, throw tantrums, stamp their feets and wail at the top of their lungs and throw stuff.
In the 60’s when I or any of my 4 brothers and sisters acted that way my Dad would take off his belt and in short order things would get back to normal. The belt tasted all asses, and it was good.
