Anna Vov Reitz is a firebrand living just north of Anchorage. She’s posted the contract that’s given Evergreen, an airline contractor responsible for much of the spraying above us, to bombard Texas until the end of November. I’ve been awaiting proof of what really went down in Texas and God had nothing to do with it. http://www.paulstramer.net/2025/07/international-public-notice-we-require.html

I’ve been thinking a lot about cowboys lately for reasons I might write about in more detail some other time. This photo above brought to mind cowboys and that great cowboy story teller singer, Dave Stamey, and his song, Come Ride with Me.
Here it is if you want to have listen – it’s wonderful
Now you reminded me of a song I haven’t played for a long time
ZjZYThxr3dU
Song reminds me of times there in the 70s/80s
I’ll be headed there in a few weeks
My eyes went first to the two rock domes, they look granitic, so I guessed the South Platte area. But then I decided it was too arid, so it must be somewhere on the Western Slope, which might be closer to DT’s usual haunts. And there looks to be a pinyon pine in the lower left. The Western Slope has a lot of sedimentary and metamorphic rock, so I’m not certain where there are exposed granite domes. But I was only ever an occasional visitor to the Western Slope, in pursuit of ice and mountains to climb.
Ah, ok, I see it. The creek vegetation. It’s similar to some of the pictures you showed in your Overland series of the routes north of Denver and Ft. Collins. We used to go to Vedauwoo every summer for rock climbing, so I know there’s granite domes in that area.
It’s a sad situation, Colorado no longer a free state. I won’t be going back except for business trips. I’ve never been on CO-127 and into the Medicine Bow mountains. I’ve been west of there in the mountains north of Steamboat Springs, been to Baggs and Savery and Encampment across the state line. It’s Wyoming or Idaho for me when I escape from my current blue hell.
Work has taken me away every once in a while but Idaho’s been home for over 25 years now. Stay away from Boise metro (I-84 corridor), Moscow, and Sun Valley. Boise’s getting so blue and has the population, it’s going to drive the state that way. Sad to see the deterioration since I’ve been here. Traffic jams, road rage, very blue mayor. Boise city adopted the rainbow flag as “official” to defy state law preventing such flags to be flown from govt buildings, (Boise County is a different entity)
East side – Idaho Falls – is nice. So is Salmon area. The panhandle – Coeur d’Alene/Sandpoint – I don’t know well.
Came here from Colorado – it was going blue even then. Won’t be going back. I still like Nevada but California’s taken over LV and Reno.
Wyoming’s one of two western states I’ve never called home. If I were to move there (not likely) I’d consider up around Sheridan. SW Montana has some nice areas as well.
Lovely.
Another pleasant valley some day.

Yup. Another great song.
Will you be carrying your saddle?
Let you know tomorrow

I forget exactly where but I believe it’s east of the divide and north of Denver. Maybe up CO127 just south of the Wyoming line.

Dale Creek, N of Virginia Dale
Likely. Could be. Forgot to label the pic. Guessed from the batch it was in.
