If you must know, my wife is from IN. About 40 miles NE of here. Shelbyville. Her older brother and family still live there. The rest of her fambly, like mine, are scattered to the 4 winds.

I’m fairly happy here, much more so than when we lived in FL. FL, to me, is a young persons world and all that goes with it. By the time I was about 40 I didn’t have a young persons mindset anymore and the locale was wearing me out. I regret that we didn’t move here 20 years earlier.

Well at least you were not in Illinois.

I remember Woody Hayes punching an opposing team member after an interception during the game.

My wife’s family are in Northern Indiana, so I have made a lot of visits to Indiana. Mostly good times and memories.

I hope y’all realize I’m not knocking Indiana (except maybe Indianapolis). Almost took a job near Bloomington; wouldn’t even consider it if I had anything against the area. My father lives somewhat NW of Indy.

All areas can be good or bad, it’s the people that live there that makes the diff. And the weather.

If you look at the map of Indiana you’ll see a dark green spot in the central-south area. That is Brown County where I live and it’s the only place in the whole state that has dense forest and perilously steep hills. Usually no guard rails.

Brown County State Park is in this county and people go there from around the world. My wife and I go there at least once a year and do one of their shorter hikes, maybe 3-4 miles. But it’s usually too crowded for my taste. My wifes family used to rent a pavilion in the park every summer for a family reunion but that stopped about 10 years ago when too many oldsters died off. It seems young folk don’t get into that fambly heritage stuff much. It’s a different tribe out there these days.
