You know what’s cool about a wood burning fireplace or stove?

All your wrapping paper and boxes become self eliminating.

TA-DAAAA!

Unfortunately we have neither.

Our fireplace is propane, but it is controlled with a (battery) remote with thermostat, so there’s that. It works when the power goes out (no furnace).

This is rich.

Got a SS paper in the mail today and on the back it said the following:

====================

SCAM ALERT

Scammers are pretending to be government
employees. They may threaten you and may
demand immediate payment to avoid arrest or
other legal action. Do not be fooled.

If you receive a suspicious call:

1. HANG UP!

2. DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY OR
  PERSONAL INFORMATION!

3. REPORT THE SCAM AT OIG.SSA.GOV

=====================

They are completely unaware of the irony.

The scammers are using the exact same tactic the criminal gov’t uses to threaten their citizen victims.

I guess it’s true what I’ve read, that the gov’t hates competition.

With AI lying coming on board fast and furious in all things it will be interesting how the gov’t deals with the criminal competition from the very technology it has funded so heavily.

Wouldn’t that be cool, a massive global money and control war between gov’ts and technology creations that can’t suffer pain or power.

What if computers took criminal gov’ts to the woodshed?

There’s a similar tree, although nowhere near as pretty, in the median of I17 north of Phoenix. The tree even has it’s own Wikipedia page.
