Textures

Seems one of my common photo subjects is “textures” – a photo of nothing in particular but of surface variations.
There is rarely a “tale”; rarely any deep meaning. Nothing more than a surface pattern that catches my attention.
Make of the image what you will – there will be others.
In this case, the side of a barn; east of and not far from Lake Huron, still standing, exposed to the west, never painted … the barn was built in 1902, the photo taken in 2013.

This was a wound that left a scar.
Looks like old deck boards.
Years ago, maybe 10-12 years, a dood hired me to rip out his old deck and design/build a new one, and I did. I took his old deck boards home and stacked them next to the workshop and there they sat for a few years getting additional wear.
One day I got an idea (that can be a dangerous thing) and I tore into them old deck boards. 2 or 3 days later I had made 8 small tables out of them deck boards and they flank the various seating systems scattered around on the porches that circumvent our crib.
I made sure all nails/screws were removed then I ran the boards through the planer, both sides Then I ran them through the table saw and removed the “round” edges. Consulting my sketches, I then cut all the boards to proper lengths and widths. Assembled everything with drywall screws, bolts/nuts, and left the wood unfinished. The drywall screws and bolts/nuts have rusted through the years and that rust runs in streaks down the legs and elsewhere enhancing the overall patinas.
Last summer my wife asked if I had any of them deck boards left…..
