Sunday Evening – A Final Thought
It’s not mine to post here but over at “Virtual Mirage“, post titled “The Beat Goes On” about halfway down the Comments section, June 7, 2026 at 5:04 am begins an interesting string based on “Christian” vs “Orthodox Christian”. Agree or disagree, an interesting discussion in any case.

First time seeing them this year.
Today is also the first time it was 80+ degrees all day.

Only read a few comments then my eyes glazed over.
I find everything religion immensely silly.
Years ago on the old AD John Venlet and I argued this topic to where we both agree religion is not a belief but rather a faith. This is why I consider him a friend.

Jean, Waste of time? Then I have to ask, what is life about?
Life is about what we make it. There is no proof that there is any kind of god that has/had anything to do with life.
“The heavens declare the glory of God,
The skies show us what His hands have made.
Day after day they tell us his story,

I cannot look at nature or consider mathematics or notice the ubiquitous repeating patterns throughout all of reality without considering that there must have been a masterful engineer who thought of all of it and put it all together and now watches over it all.
I apologize for inserting my opinion here. I usually avoid commenting re:god, religion, faith.
I respect everyone’s right to believe as they wish.

Your opinion requires no apology, Jean. I have never been offended by anything you have ever written. I was simply offering a counterpoint to the “no proof” part of your comment. Where you see no proof, I see proof everywhere I look – including in your inspired poetry. Two intelligent people looking at the same thing and seeing something different. And commenting about it. That’s what we do here.

Interesting link to the comments on “Christian” or “Orthodox Christian.” The arguments put forth in the linked comments point to the dogmatic aspect of using one or the other as a label which to rally around, rather than simply accepting on faith God, Yahweh, as Creator of all things and his Son, Jesus Christ (Messiah), Yeshua, as individuals’ hope for salvation.
Personally, I think dogmatic claiming one or the other as “the answer” was given to individuals of faith in God in Luke 9:49-50:
“Master,” said John, “we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us.” “Do not stop him,” Jesus said, “for whoever is not against you is for you.”
It’s not the label you apply to yourself or dogmatically rally around that is the path to one’s salvation, it’s faith.
John, Very well said. I have to add works. 70 years ago a nun taught our class that faith and works go hand in glove. James 2:18-26. Matthew 6:1-4 tells us how our works should be done.
