The People

The New American Digest Posted on January 7, 2025 by DTJanuary 7, 2025

Of course, most revolutionists do not … really … want change. They simply want to sit in the driver’s seat.

But does he not claim to be acting for the people?

The people is an abstraction. It is one of those general terms that has no meaning in fact. For “the people” is in reality many peoples, with many interests, many possibilities. It is always interesting to me that none of these persons who claim to act for the people have ever consulted the people themselves.

Re-Post For ghostsniper

The New American Digest Posted on January 5, 2025 by DTJanuary 5, 2025

Besides, I like this photo.

My wife pretends she likes woodworking – and she’s not bad at it when she does it. We have an RV garage that now does service as a shop … full of tools; no lathe though. Trouble is, she doesn’t do much with it so its purpose has become more tool storage than tool use. She’s going to retire come summer; maybe she’ll get back into it when the boredom of retirement sets in …

Myself? I enjoy the idea of woodworking – took woodworking in shop class in high school … but I can’t pound a nail straight even with an airgun. My little kid brother now … he does high-end finish carpentry – high-end as in huge size and dollar mansions – and I’m amazed the quality work he turns out.

Anyway, there was a period when I was working in Virginia and she came out to visit. There was a wood-working show going on in Richmond. Being as Richmond wasn’t far, we went. I had a chance to get up close to this guy giving a demo on either the tools or the lathe – I don’t recall which – and took the opportunity to get this photo. Sometimes I make a mistake and get a good image.

When I posted the photo earlier as one of my “experiments” while setting up this site, ghostsniper posted a comment on his work. I took those posts down for various reasons but here’s this photo again – just for you ghost.

Now, no good comment goes unpunished – send me an article on your thoughts of woodworking via email for posting … 🙂

Sometimes I Still Feel Like A Rowdy 20 Year Old

The New American Digest Posted on January 4, 2025 by DTJanuary 4, 2025

… and it’s Saturday.

I could feel like heading into a hard-rock bar with $1 cover, cheap beer, and girls feeling the same way.

Then realize my body – and mind – couldn’t handle it anymore.

Nor could I probably handle being around 20yos that like $1 cover bars with cheap beer.
Or 20yo girls that feel the same way.

Sigh … but I still sometimes enjoy the music.

In my day and place at the time, that like as not often meant Ted Nugent practicing feedback.
Ya get what ya pay for …

The New American Digest Posted on January 2, 2025 by DTJanuary 2, 2025

I was going to put up something cheery and uplifting today.

Then yesterday happened.

2025 to 2024: “Hold my beer!“

Sigh …

Maybe later.

Thoughts On New Year Day

The New American Digest Posted on January 1, 2025 by DTJanuary 1, 2025

A month from now, Gerard’s work will be gone forever. Enjoy the Archives while you may.
And bless Neo for her work in keeping his spirit and works alive as long as she did.
I still miss Ol’ Remus’ works; soon American Digest goes on the list as well.

Damn! Can’t get through a celebration without some crazy going crazy. Not going to be able to say anything even close to pleasant or family-friendly other than may God rest the souls of those wanting nothing more than to celebrate in NO.

We hadn’t had any significant snow since last winter. A light dusting a month or so ago but that was gone shortly after falling. Set a new record for latest snowfall. But it started last night just past midnight and is still coming down as I write this. Weather site says it will continue until tomorrow morning.

May you all have a happy 2025 and may America rise once again from the flames of “them”.

"So Long. See You All a Little Further Down the Road"

When my body won’t hold me anymore
And it finally lets me free
Where will I go?
Will the trade winds take me south through Georgia grain?
Or tropical rain?
Or snow from the heavens?
Will I join with the ocean blue?
Or run into a savior true?
And shake hands laughing
And walk through the night, straight to the light
Holding the love I’ve known in my life
And no hard feelings

Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man,
play a song for me
I'm not sleepy
and there ain't no place I'm goin' to

Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man,
play a song for me
In the jingle jangle morning,
I'll come followin' you

Take me for a trip upon
your magic swirling ship
All my senses have been stripped
And my hands can't feel to grip
And my toes too numb to step
Wait only for my boot heels to be wanderin'

I'm ready to go anywhere,
I'm ready for to fade
Unto my own parade
Cast your dancing spell my way
I promise to go under it

Men who saw night coming down about them could somehow act as if they stood at the edge of dawn.
