Redbud In Bloom

Must have been about this time of year perhaps 10 years ago. Along Colonial Parkway between Jamestown and Yorktown, Virginia.

I have a neat story about Redbuds I could write but I am just WAAAAY too busy with other stuff right now.
Remember that dood on the Ed Sullivan show that had all them plates spinning on top of thin sticks? That’s me.
I lost a brother just a few years ago. A younger brother, which made the loss harder because it was out of order. It so happened that this brother had an enormous personality, presence and strength.
There were 4 of us siblings. Like the 4 legs of a table, we each had our corner and kept the family stable and together. His premature death rocked our world and the community in which he lived.
Mark Knopfler was one of his favorite musicians and Redbud Tree, by Knopfler, one of his favorite tunes. Every family member now has at least one redbud tree planted somewhere on their property in rememberance of him, and the city in Florida where he lived planted two for him in a park.
Redbuds are beautiful trees with intensely colored little flowers that give way to graceful heart shaped leaves. Any sight of them always brings to mind my giant hearted brother.
Thanks for this lovely photo.
Along with the various volunteer plants that come up in my garden every year, a redbud poppoed up. I have been watering him. If he continues I have a good spot in the yard for him this Fall.
