Tunesday: Marshall Tucker Band – See You One More Time
A sample of some obscure – and maybe not obscure – tunes from my strange and off-the-wall collection.
Today’s selection: Marshall Tucker Band – “See You One More Time” 1980
Marshall Tucker Band was one of the highlight bands of the “Southern rock” genre of the mid/late 70s. They released their first album in 1973. The original band had dissipated by 1984. The co-founder and bassist had died in a car accident and the band never regained the success of the 70s. A band under the same name still exists with one remaining original member of the band.
This cut is taken from the last album released by the original line-up, recorded in 1980.
Recent personal events led me to put this cut up more or less as a prayer to a few that have passed on.
Guess I’m getting on to that stage of my life …
My favorite cut by the band is “Fire On The Mountain” which will probably show up on some Tunesday in the future.

Eerie, you channelin’ me?
Just this morning in the shower I decided before days end that I would try to play “Can’t You See” on an acoustic guitar before days end.
May be the other way round – had this scheduled for a few days.
Overall, I don’t care for Marshall Tucker but out of 10 albums by the original group, I have about a half dozen of their songs that I do like. “Can’t You See” is one of them.
Hold on to the good memories, DT.
Just listened to it, never heard it before.
That BIG Gibson humbucker sound.
Neck pick up.
Roll the tone back, crank the gain up.
Them fat notes peel off the fretboard like scraping hot buttered rum off the bottom of the skillet – slow and sweet and sticky as all get out.
“Words can paint a picture if you have the eyes to see.”

You missed this one?? One of their later cuts, but after their peak had passed.
I once lived in Kalamazoo and had a girlfriend whose mother worked for Gibson. I was a (hm-m-m) bass player at the time and still can’t believe I didn’t scarf up an EB (0 or 3) at employee rates – as I recall, something in the neighborhood of $175 – when I had the opportunity. A crushed left ring finger (since sort of healed) a few years later ended all that though.
